I am doing the aggravating task of replacing my AC compressor. I replaced the condenser no problem I removed the water pump no problem, compressor bolts no problem.
I am stuck on the back recessed bolt to remove the AC lines at the aluminum block.
i Tried grinding down a 13mm socket, but still cannot get a socket in there with the frame in the way.
I have unhooked the top line at the condenser to try to move the compressor enough to get a wrench in there. No luck. I will try the lower condenser line next.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have spent over an hour of this job trying to get this bolt out! I hope not dropping the frame, because then I wouldn’t have had to drain the coolant and remove the water pump.
is it the long stud....it's assembled before the engine goes into the car. It can be removed....half of a flat at a time if I remember. I've removed a bunch of AC compressors for race cars (never to be reinstalled).
I use a snap-on xdhfm1213 zero offset box wrench. You may be able to remove the compressor mounting bolts/stud from the block, lower the compressor and reach in through the wheel opening with a flex socket and extension.
This was the bolt at the back bottom that holds the AC lines to the compressor.
I just dropped the sub frame. A lot quicker and easier thank when I took off the water pump.
now I have to add coolant back after the water pump install.
anyhow good time to flush out the cooling system
