Default E brake problem

Hello and thanks in advance. I replaced brake and rotors all around. I adjusted the e brake so the rear rotors went on with little resistance. When I used the e brake the first time there wasn’t a problem. Today I pulled up on the handle and I felt a pop now nothing happens when I pull up the handle. I took out interior so I got a good look at handle. The cable is attached to the handle but the gears don’t mate up unless I pull on the cable by hand. Has this happened to anyone that can advise my next move. Thank you

When adjusting the E brakes, should be able to rotate the rotor without the shoes making contact to the drums at all. So you adjust them outwards to start with, rotate each rotor a full turen to see if they are making contact to start with, them pull the rotor to adjust them out to the point they they don't make contact for a full tune of the rotors. With shoes adjusted correctly E handle should pull up about 12 clicks, and the 13 click should be to the point that your about to dislocate your shoulder.

As for E brake lever assembly it has a self adjustment clicker in it to take up cable slack, the cable run out to the splitter and the cables to to the arms from there.
Note, C6 does not have a shoe self adjusters, so you have to get the shoe to just miss the rotors from the start when they are adjusted correctly. If the are making light contact to the drum, the shoes/drums are going to heat up, and will have the shoes making hard contact instead (will weld themselves to the drums)

So work back from the caliper arms to make sure one is not busted or end loop slipped off the arm, the cable is good to the splitter and back to the assembly to start with. Also, adjust the shoes correctly, so the assembly can self adjust its clicker for any cable slack as well.

The lever assembly is pretty straight forward, and just make sure you did not break the main spring, or one of its other parts for the ratchet release button lever.

Default Thank you

Thanks. I’ll readjust and inspect the cable at the wheel.
