07 Left Paddle Shifter Issue
If problem is not there, then may have to pull the steering wheel to check the wires to the clock spring next.
Clock spring replacement,or at least checking it wires to make sure they are good to start with.

As for best shifter pod option will be the F1 shifter mod, were you set the pods up for finger tips pulls only, with the right lever pull for upshifts, and the left lever pull for downshifts.
The huge reason for this F1 shifting mod, is to keep your thumbs out of the wheel spokes when you tag the apex curb on the way into a corner during HPDE events, the wheel kicks as you hit the inner incline curb, and you end up breaking a thumb when the steering wheel spoke tries to rip them off them from the wheel Jerk.
Also, if your are going to be pulling the pods to check the wiring, would be a good time to change out the smaller plastic levers with paddle lever extensions, to give you a better finger tip area/wider steering wheel grip area for the levers as well (as show in the second video above).

As for the next step, all depends if the car/trans has been re-tuned or not, since after market tuning both makes a huge difference in not only the instant amount of power that the car can put to the ground with about an extra 15hp (stock TM does has some of the instant power that the engine can put out to the ground hobbled), as well as how firm that the trans shifts as well.
