Default Hot at idle

As I’ve read many times some of these like to creep up on temp at long idle on hot days. Mine will jump to 220° and if left idle will go to 235-240°. Cruises 197-201°. So I was looking at a way to increase under hood air flow. I just removed the rubber seal at the rear of the hood by the cowl and will see what happens.
My question is: has anyone tried this yet and if so, did it help any? I plan to drive mine tomorrow and see.

I am also curious how the hot air escapes the engine compartment?
cool air enters, goes thru the radiator(s) picking up heat, then has to exit somewhere, is it under the car??
Thanks

The air does exit out the fenders on the side as well.

Dumb question but have you confirmed the rad fans are working? Typically hot at idle points there first.

Two parts to this, and the first is if the A/C is on, its condenser is in front of the radiator, and will be pulling hot air through the radiator from it, to increase the engine temp when standing still. The A/C will turn on the radiator fan to start with, but as the engine temp rises, the fan should be ramping up in speed as well.

The second part to this, is when was the last time that you water spray cleaned both the radiator, and the condenser, to knock out any build up in the coils, back out there front side. You tube will cover you on how to remove the top cover to get access to the back side of the condenser, as well as some water wands tools that work great to get into the tight spaces. Also, help to get under the front of the car to check to see if you sucked up a plastic trash bag that is blocking the flow of air through the condenser in the first place.
