Default Delayed Reverse Lights T56

So I noticed recently my reverse lights having a noticeable delay and even sometimes not turning on at all. I put an MGW shifter not long before this starting happening otherwise I am a bit confused what could cause this intermittent issue. I'm thinking of testing the reserve switch perhaps?

Yes, on the reverse switch in the trans, and if the car is a 2005, you have two of them on the trans. one of for the reverse lights, while the other is the put the trans into reverse on motor shut off.

As for the switch, it just a detent ball, so easy to test one you pull it out of the trans. If switch is working fine, has been seated all the way in to put the ball in the correct postion, then problem may the internal trans lever that presses the ball instead.

P.s, anti viper washer for the mgw shifter to solve the notchy problem, does not go on this/these switches. If you did add a brass washer on the reverse light switch, then it not seated all the way in and the problem at hand.

Yes I noticed the reverse switch has the same ball design as the fitting I put the anti venom mod but I did not mix up the two. It's an 06 so looks like I only have one switch to test

Amazon Amazon

Easy to test, and just set multi meter to ohms, use the back pins on the sensor with it in hand, and just make sure pressing the ball in changes the meter reading at the very start of the ball light pressed inward. My guess, internal contacts are about corrode out, and why it may take a hard ball press, or delay for continuity when the ball is pressed in instead.
