2013 GS MZ6. 1-4 shift light comes on at start then goes away. It never comes on at any other time and it never shifts 1-4. If there is a skip shift eliminator installed wouldn't the light on the dash still come on during low rpm starts?
It is bypassed properly, turned off at ECM. If one uses the bypass cable under near the connectors you would get shift 2-4 light but it would not shift to 4. I turned mine off with the after market tune and programmer.
Yes. I have a skip shift but the light flashes at low rpm shifts. Doesn't bother me an I am making no programming changes to my CA car. I probably should keep quiet about the skip shift since it was part of fuel economy features.

In that case they used the bypass plug near the tranny. That way it does not shift to 4 but fools the ECM that is did so you do not get any trouble codes. Yes the best way is to turn it off through a good tune.

1-4 light at start up is normal, and part of the self check of the dash at start up.
Yes on shift light coming on if just eliminator was used only to block the solenoid from locking you out,
while no light or block out would be part of the tune to shut the cage off in the tune itself.
Note, system may still have resistor fuse in play, since it was left behind when the tuner tuned out the CAGE. Hence on the C6, trans lock out solenoid is on it own fuse, so you can just change out the fuse to resistor type in the fuse box, while the C5 had other items that the Cage fuse at the engine fuse box, and you have to install the resistor at the trans isntead. The resistor allows the car to see the solenoid so it does not trip any codes, but does not allow enough amperage to the solenoid to actual allow it to engage instead.
