Scan milage
The only thing that I can think of is that there was a catalyic converter recall/update here in commiefornia where they swapped out the original 2 cat system for a 4 cat system I think that they reflashed the computer also. This could have been at about 45k miles that might corespond with the inconsistancy.
Any ideas??
Does the car compute actually think it only has 74k miles??
As for reflash of the ECM, should have pulled mileage from the BCM during that flash, and mileage should still jive between the 3 modules.
So on that note, would take the car back to the dealer, to have them check the mileage with Tech2win for the three module mileages, and if one of the modules mileages is off, they can re-flash that module to get it corrected. For the most part, one will just check the cluster to see the cars mileage, but when you do a deep dive on the car, its all three modules you want to check to make sure they jive with each other.
If dealer is out for a quick check, then see if someone near you has a tech2, to at least check all the module mileages. If off, then dealer may need to do firmware flashes to correct. Hence ecm firmware flash should pull the BCM mileage to flash that in, and visa versa if BCM flashing, while if cluster mileage is off, then A/C delco has to write a VCL file for the dealer to pull down and use to correct that mileage, since it will not automaticy pull the ECM/BCM mileage for a reflash.
As for the mileage they pulled up, scanner may have had a way of pulling up the ECM current firmware version from re-flash date mileage, and all may still be right with the car, with the actual miles of the module still the same to each other for total miles. Hence CA when you do smog, will pull up the firmware version, check it against the know list of oem firmware updates and other Carb approved versions, and if not on the list, will fail the car for having a after market unapproved tune.
So not out of the question for Ca scanner to be able to pull this information, as well as mileage on current update firmware as well.
So sky may not be falling, but would still get a tech 2 on the car, to see the actual total miles on the modules/make sure they are all reading the same.
