Default Do I need a "Long Reach" Jack

Looking to buy a jack for my C6. I typically only do brake pad/rotor swaps on my vehicles. Looking at the Daytona low profile jacks, I know some say get the long reach, is that because the standard jack won't fit far enough under the Vette to hit the lifting points, or more because people like the extra 5" for sliding under the car for maintenance? It's only $50 so probably will do the Long reach anyway, but just trying to understand if it's a need or "nice to have".
TIA

A shorter one can hit the rocker but is moot if you use pucks. Both of my jacks barely clear without pucks and the car lowered a little.

The long reach would be helpful, particularly when jacking up from the front, but I manage with the regular aluminum low profile jack. I prefer the aluminum because of how much lighter and easier it is to move around.

Yes, long reach is helpful.
FWIW I had both and long reach works best.

My car is lowered and has a ZR1 splitter on it. I use wood ramps I made from 2x10s (two layers) and drive up on them before jacking and I use a regular, low-profile jack and it works fine.
I would never be able to get a jack under the front or side (have side skirts too) without the ramps. Re your original question, long reach is not needed.
