The previous owner gave me a Hurst billet plus shifter with my car that wasn’t installed. He said the boot didn’t fit well and he didn’t like the feel. Can’t find many opinions about these, curious if anyone has one and if you like it.

My Z06 came to me with a Hurst. Very short throws, very stiff. Shifted somewhat better when I replaced the **** with **** that someone on the Forum here made.
Its the side to side/fore and aft slop, even when the trans is in gear, that the MGW just does a better job of tighten up.
As for length of throws, easy to make then shorter or longer, but just adjusting the height of the **** from the base of upper shifter assembly on the MGW unit as well.

Interesting. The Hurst in my Vette is many things, but there is very little to no slop.
