Default ECM service numbers

So my ECM is having communication issues . It won’t even let my tuner get in with his HP tuners. We are thinking it’s corrupt so I’m just going to get another one.. however I don’t want to pull the fender off myself so I’m going to have a shop swap it out. But they want me to get the ecm first. So I can’t just look at mine to determine what to get. Does anyone know which ECM service number I need? It’s for a 2008 Z06. I’ve tried contacting the dealer but they were no help .. thanks in advance

Before replacing an ECM for communication issues I’d check the ECM powers and grounds first.

the powers and grounds are fine . It has power and let’s OBD scanners work fine.. it’s only when the HP tuners tried to communicate, will it say it doesn’t recognize the port.. it’s been glitchy for a while , we had an issue when we tuned it the first time and since then the ecm has been corrupt .. it even changed some of the fuel trims after the tune .. it’s just very odd

Just buy this.... https://dsxtuning.com/collections/tu...21286585401424

or
The ECM E38 was used in so many vehicles that GM made in 08. If the shop has GM SPS2 capabilities then you simply install an ECM from a truck and flash it to your car.

The correct E38 ECM for your 08 Z06 car is #12612384. It was used across many 08-09 GM models and can be found rather cheaply at your local wrecking yard. You could then find someone local to reprogram it. It needs to be programmed with a 08 Corvette OS. Give the tuner/programmer your VIN and the exact updated software will be loaded. Do not program it with HP Tuners or EFILIVE software as it will not include all the segments. It must be programmed thru GM database.

Even if the issue you are having is not with the current ECM it's still a great idea to have a spare E38 ECM handy. As time goes by they will eventually become harder to find.
