Default STP Octane Booster

Bought my Z51, C6, LS3 about a year ago and have been using STP Octane Booster with 87 basic Octane gas with good results. Car runs strong with no pings etc. Does anyone have experience running this for an extended time. Just wondering because the main ingredient is jet fuel. Just wondering if there are any adverse effects running this continuously?
Thanks

The engine management system is designed to allow temporary use of a lower than recommended octane rated fuel. It does this by altering the engine timing to delay the onset of detonation.

Is there a good reason why you are not using the recommended Top Tier certified premium fuel in your Corvette? This would remove any doubt about fuel related negative effects to your engine. No offense intended, but you may be the "guinea pig" to collect the empirical data needed to see if your fuel additive choice results in any long-term detrimental effect to the LS3.

I would say its not a great idea... the computer will adjust to some degree but why? just run 93 and be done with it. The cost of constantly buying octane booster probably offsets the savings of running 87 and your motor is loosing power because its having to pull timing to compensate for the poor fuel and constantly battling to prevent detonation. Even with the octane booster your fuel isnt coming up to 93 octane, maybe 90 at best... Ill never understand people buying a high performance sports car then trying to save on gas lol. Thats like being a professional painter and using rattle can clear because clear coats too expensive. Trust me, your car will thank you and ittl probably even feel slightly faster when it relearns the fuel trim on 93 and gives you timing back.

Thanks for your response. I was kind of leaning toward not using this stuff any more, and you convinced me to just spend the extra money and use the right fuel. I was originally thinking that if I could buy a $4.00 booster and get the same octane as 91 or 93 that should be good. But rethinking it, there is no way to tell exactly what the boosted octane level is. Plus I don't know how it mixes having the two tanks and such. So you're right why should I make my Corvette the guinea pig. Thanks again.

STP Octane Booster claims to raise octane 2 to 5 "points". A point is 1/10 of an octane number, so you're raising your 87 to 87.5 at most.

Well I'm done with octane boosters. It just pisses me off that I can't find 91 gas around me, and have to use 93 when I don't really have to. But that's what I'm gonna do instead of risking damaging my LS3.
Thanks to all for the input.

Yours doesn't do flex fuel? I used Boostane for awhile before finding an E85 kit. That worked well but happy to be on the E85 now. I will sell the kit soon if you're in the market for one. It's an easy install piggyback fuel controller.

Thanks, but I'm just gonna use the fuel designated by GM and just have to get over the fuel prices.

You'll get better, and more consistent power with 93 compared to 91. Most guys here will feel just the opposite as you do. The guys who can only get 91 octane are usually the ones pissed that they cant get 93!! Having a Corvette and buying the cheapest fuel you can find for it is like buying an expensive, beautiful wedding cake, but canceling the frosting!!

That's what I was just about to say. If someone wants a REAL octane booster, try Boostane, VP Octanium, or Torco. I use Boostane when E85 is unavailable. One bottle takes a tank of 93 octane to 102. I quess I could also use 18-45 bottles of STP at 2-5 "points" per bottle to get the same result!

If you did that, Colonel, you'd be demoted to Captain, or Sargeant!!
