Default Time for a new car battery???

Hi... I have an “85 PG” AC Delco battery in my 2012 Grand Sport…. Been in the car now for 4 1/2 years and I drive a few times each week but only maybe 5 miles or less on each trip…. When in the garage I pretty much always put it on an Optima 400 Battery Charger I bought when I got the previous battery…. Battery will usually show 60 to 80% when I first hook it up but it always comes up to 100% in a short few hours…. But just yesterday and now into today, the battery, for the first time is only coming up to and staying at 80%…. This is over a day now and still at 80%…. Is this telling me it’s time for a new battery??? Any help would be appreciated... thanks…

I have a 2011 GS still with the original battery. Recently had the tender go from solid green (fully charged) to flashing green(80%). Stayed like that for a few weeks until I decided to look into it. Turns out the tender went bad. Bought a new one and it went to solid green again.

Bought a new AC Delco 85G (Gold) battery and had it installed yesterday (easy install and I did the previous 2 batteries myself but my nearby Chevy dealer offered to put it in quickly and for a very modest charge).... So looked back on my battery history, the original lasted 4 1/2 years... The 2nd, a lesser Delco battery (Silver), only lasted 2 1/2 years... Now this third one (gold) lasted again 3 1/2 years... Pretty amazing that you, JetStreamGS, have a battery that is 13 years old and still working ok... Certainly not been my experience.. Charged my new battery all day yesterday and it came up to 100% and "maintaining" the battery, something the previous battery could no longer reach...

Car was put into service in 2010 so going on 15 years. Same story with my 2011 V. These are solid batteries. The key is keeping a tender on it when stored.

What brand of battery is it??? Sounds like it would be AC Delco if it's original in your 2011 GS, right???? My last one has been on a tender pretty much all the time it's parked but still only lasted 4 1/2 years... If what I saw that it would no longer fully charge over two continuous days meant that it was on the way to failing, a bit of a guess on my part....

Yes Delco. I’m wondering if you may have a draw somewhere. That’s really odd.

I do have the "mild to wild" fob that allows me to leave the exhaust in what would be inner pipes always open but I thought I read that caused NO current draw while it WOULD have a draw if I left the setting in what would be called "mild" (inner pipes closed until hitting 3800 rpm)... But good point... Might be something going on I should maybe try to measure or take it to the Chevy dealer to have them check all the electrical... thanks...
