Default Cam / Head help

Hope this isn't a repeat, but it's hard to narrow down decades of search results.

I have the LS2 and am switching out the top end to LS3 (Heads, intake). I have LS3 stock heads that I am getting milled, ported and cleaned up, but this is where I am not sure. Only the intake and exhaust are being ported (unless I should do more). When it comes to cams, springs and rockers, what do I need to put into consideration? I want to keep stock valve covers and stock bottom end. Pushrods need changed to a different size, or stock size fine? Car is an auto.

I was looking at this kit https://www.michiganmotorsports.com/...7zYJh5T3YuQdLA
and these rockers
https://www.michiganmotorsports.com/...t-btr-rockers/

This a good combo for street/ sort of daily.. ish? What am I missing?

Much appreciated!

I wouldn't skimp out on the cam.Call BTR or TSP and let them set you up a complete package.Tell them your goals and they will take care of you.Never dealt with TSP but the BTR guys are great to work with and have some very good products!

I'd run this cam instead of the Sloppy cam. PG LS3 STAGE 1 (patgtuning.com) . You'd need a converter to run the Sloppy cam on the streets. That cam, with 5 degrees of overlap will probably have some low rpm drivability issues. Pat's cam, at a half of a degree of overlap, should run smooth even at low rpm. Should have more power down low also. More power at street level RPM is what you want in a street/daily type build.

I don't know how much static compression ratio you lose going to the bigger chamber heads. You need to get back all of it and more if possible. I cut my LS3 heads 10 thou and used 10 thou thinner head gaskets. That was with Tx Speed CNC ported stock LS3 heads on an LS3. Static worked out to about 11.4:1. Tx Speed can CNC port, do a competition valve job, mill to your spec, clean, and assemble with your valve spring of choice for $900.

I used new stock LS3 rocker arms along with BTR platinum dual springs. I also used a custom Cam Motion cam with specs 226/234 115+4 with .620 lift on both sides. Very similar to Pat G's cam. It exhibits perfect manners with good low end power as well as a killer top end charge.

You need to measure for push rod length. No way you can just guess with a valve job, head milling, aftermarket cam, and thinner head gaskets.
