Here is the dyno I just had done on my 100% stock crate motor ls3:
is it just me or does this seem really high for a stock ls3? Thinking there must have been something off with the dyno but not sure. Maybe it is possible. What do you guys think?
All stock, graph is off (too high for RWHP), and really need to see what buffering was used, and even what kind of dyno.
Hence some dynos will read high to begin with, while some tuners will change the buffering from base run, to final run, so looks like they got more power out of the engine with return.
Bottom line, max our going to pick up from base to retune, is about 15hp, and with the numbers your showing, would take header, and a radial cam as well.
So M6 rans all stock LS3, should be about here instead.
that is what I was expecting as well - something around 390ish rwhp. But i just saw this article from motor trend which made me think maybe there is something special about the ls3 crate motors? My engine was a new ls3 crate motor so maybe there is something special about them that allows them to make an extra 10% rwhp?
GM does offer an LS3 crate engine with that comes with a cam upgrade. You'd see similar numbers to what you're seeing if that's what you ended up with.
yeah it wouldnt idle at 550 with a big cam, also wouldnt start at all with a stock tune. It is the stock cam. Something must have been off with the dyno.
