Several months ago I was driving my C6 Corvette I got an error message “reduced power,” and then it shut down. I waited a few minutes it started back up with the check engine light on. It eventually started running fine again. Well it started back up again accept this time it shut down again but quite frequently also the check gas cap light came on. Does anyone know what is going on? Have any of you experienced the same thing?

You'll need to pull the code it threw before you can even start the troubleshooting process...if you don't have one, the auto parts stores will do it for you if you can get it there.

As stated many problems will set a hard reduced power mode, especially those related to the fly-by-wire throttle. Pull the codes and check back in with us. It can be a sensor, a harness problem, a bent pin at the PCM etc. A lot of GM vehicles had corrosion problems at some of the harness junctions leading from the throttle pedal to the PCM
