Default No green start button/dead car

Was driving yesterday and car just died. Tried to restart, but nothing. I have no green start button, no dash lights, dash is just black. Car cranks, radio works, windows work, etc. When the green start button does happen to reappear the car will attempt to fire, spit and sputter, but never fully start. Can't get codes because car won't go to "on" without green start button. Searches have come up with nothing. Any help is greatly appreciated

If your battery is over 2 years old...REPLACE. Electrical Gremlins have been known to do some very strange things to a C6.

Thought of that, battery was bought last year, Optima Red Top, but I'm going take it to be tested today to be sure it doesn't have an issue

Your RedTop should have a warranty/exchange period you can take advantage of. Hope you kept the receipt. Probably get another for free or prorated down to very inexpensive. DO IT.

Check all of the grounds. One could have come loose.

also, check your battery cables to make sure they’re tight and look for corrosion. Serious corrosion could really mess with it.

Yes it has a 3 year warranty, took it with me to work and exchanged it on my lunch hour. Bingo, car started right up tonight. I'm hoping that was the issue, and not just a fluke that it started. It did start twice although the start button isn't lighting green and the car won't go to the "on" position with holding the start button for 10 seconds or whatever it is

So did they determine your battery was bad? When you disconnected the battery all systems were able to reset. If your start button is not lighting up I would check for power as your switch may be going south.

Don’t forget to reminded the windows.

Yes, tested at 11 volts after being on my charger the day before. And, yep, going to re-index windows tonight. Ran out of time last night

Welp, that wasn't it. Car started several times in the garage. Drove it and it left me stranded again

So you replaced your battery and now the battery won’t charge fully which is 12.66 volts ??…did you check at the battery ??

He was answering my question I posed. His battery was bad and he got a new one. Problem persists even with new battery.

Correct. I'm thinking a loose ground or some issue in the ignition system somewhere. Wondering if it's a bad ignition switch

Is the lack of a green light the only indicator there is a problem (besides the problem itself)??

You only need to be in "ACCY" mode for your scan tool to connect....good idea to fill in your profile so we know what year your car is and other relevant data....you may want to remove the BCM connectors and look for damage...corrosion etc...

OK, I know this sounds really stupid but it happened to me. Are you using that electrical grease on the battery connectors? I had similar problems and chased all kind of things and by chance lubed the connectors on the posts and the problem went away.

Good luck,

Mike

Kept disconnecting the other night when I tried, but I did just try again and it went through the whole process this time. Didn't really pull much. B1325 and U2100 codes

What year is the car ??…I was going to mention that this may be a “communication” issue and your U2100 (CAN Bus
Communication) is a communication error…do you have a DVOM and know how to use it ??…the B1325 is the BCM sees less than 9 volts for 5 seconds…this may be related to a weak battery…with engine running does your battery voltage read 12.6 to 15.5 ??

It's a 2011. Battery is brand new as of Monday. Never looked at the voltage while it was running. I do have a DVOM. Know how to use it? Enough to do basic testing if needed
