Default Quarter panels with fake intake vent...

I recently purchased a 09 LS3 at a great price, but the rear widebody converted quarter panels have been bothering me because the intake vent IS FAKE (it was filled in). Everything else about the widebody conversion seems to be done correctly—the splash guards and quarter panel liner are OEM Z06 parts, and the intake air ducting is properly routed (see pictures). I have no idea why the vents were filled. I'm looking for advice on how to fix this. Do I need to remove the quarter panels? I've uploaded some photos and a video for reference. Thanks!

there are inner and outer scoops missing, plus probably the actual brake duct. Does it have the correct wide fender liner? Somebody just didn't want to deal with all of the extra little GM plactic giblets and went the simple route. Unless it's a poor fiberglass fender, should should be able to open it up with a dremel etc and fit all of the missing parts. Probably just remove the fender liner and access everything you need, it's just screws and snap together parts.

Wow, I am unsure what I would do.

Dremel tool for the hole cut may be the best tool.
Then is there a trim to "hide" the saw line?
As to what to do, whether cut a slot (OEM style) or cut round holes, jeez I don't know.

If I was to attempt cutting slots/ holes, as David mentioned above remove the plastic wheel well liner first.
Then assess if you have all the ducting and if you have working access.
Yes, be prepared to remove the quarter panels, but that may not be necessary, although cutting the hole on a "bench setup" may bring higher quality.

Good luck and let us know your success story.

I think the factory trim pieces will hide the cut line. As per usual GM, it's about 3 or 4 separate pieces snapped together to accomplish a simple job

Before you do anything, make sure you can get the vent pieces as I hear they are hard to source now. With the correct vent pieces, the rear brake ducts snap into the vent pieces. It is possible you still have the base brake ducts, which gets its air from underneath the car in front of the rear wheels.

Apsis makes reproduction vents now so getting them isnt necessarily a problem (although im not sure if they sell the clip that goes behind it so you may have to fab something.

If you dont care about function, just cut some sort of screen material and glue onto the face of the vent location....probably would be easier and no one would know without looking close.
