This happened yesterday so I replaced batteries in both fobs. Tried it today and got the same issue even though the batteries are new. What's the issue? (2006 C6 with 140k miles)
I just had this issue with my 2011. Replaced FOB batt with known good 3V+ 2032, no change. I replaced the car battery and It resolved my issue. I believe the 05 and maybe 06's also had a "flash" update available from the dealer regarding this issue.
Another possibility not mentioned is RF interference. If the problem just suddenly pops up, be sure you do not have your fob near a smart phone (same pocket or placed in the car?) or that you may have added charger bricks or cables to attach to your outlets or radio connections, as these can also interfere with the RCDLR attempting communication with the fob. Is the location of the car different than usual to consider possible outside power lines, etc. Look for something different or changed prior to experiencing the problem.
Also, you didn't just add any internal LED bulbs in your interior?
Several possibilities can cause these problems to suddenly appear.
This happened to me randomly in my garage a couple of weeks ago and I just used my other Fob. No issues with either fob since. I do fear it could leave me stranded someday though.
One thing I have noticed since owning a C6 is that the car is very susceptible to radio/ electronic glitches. They don't seem to like cell phones, FM transmitters or anything of that nature and will get temperamental with such items near by.
Just had this happen a couple of days ago. The fob was in my pocket on top of my iPhone. Removed fob from pocket, and no problem. However, the go to first step if the condition persists is to try the fob in the slot. If that works, at least you know the fob is OK electrically.
