That is why I asked the OP how he placed his hands on the steering wheel. He never answered. One hand on top of the steering wheel during hard acceleration can cause the steering wheel to get pulled, usually to the left. Most noticeable in cars where the driver is trying to shift with the right hand and drive with the left hand on the top of the steering wheel. Hands are best placed one on each side so any acceleration forces that pull the driver back into the seat and the steering wheel doesn't get pulled slightly to one side or the other.

The car would drive fine for the most part, until it started to sway under WOT. I believe the fix was to run more air pressure in the tires but I never personally tried that.
