Hi, 2013 GS LS3 4LT auto, shuts off at different times and conditions. NO Codes on my mechanic friends snap on scanner. Check Engine light goes on and off.
Cars dash messages are: Reduced engine power, Service active handing system, service traction system.
First was warm days and no accelerator, then while under power at 65mph, now after warmed up just idling in garage.
After shutting everything down and waiting a minute or two, it starts back up and is able to run till its next shut down again.
I have searched around in here for causes to follow...New Duralast Battery in March, No Burnt connector in fuse box, No loose grounds in engine compart.
Checked all connectors and fuses in both fuse panels (engine and Pass. Floor)
I just ordered a new GM ignition switch button and await its arrival, before digging into the ECM trail.
I did find that my #1 coil wire looked to be hanging low and not fully solid into the coil, but she is still shutting down.
Only Change I have made is replacing the stereo with a Pioneer and the idatalink maestro steering wheel control adapter.
If your mechanic doesn’t use a scope he’s not going to be able to diagnose it…find a mechanic who does !!…it’s NOT an ignition switch so don’t waste your time !!
You will probably have trouble finding a Tech that uses a scope and is familiar with the type of testing shown in the video…good luck !!…could be a bad crank sensor or the ECM “resetting”…we can only offer suggestions but not a diagnosis.
would suggest making sure you have an ABS code reader or teh2 clone to check wheel hub speed sensors and would suggest checking all radio harness connections return to stock for testing. Radio change outs cause weird things to happen and complicate troubleshooting.
