I’m doing a big job that requires me to drop the rear end….. my question is while I have the diff and trans out should i change the fluid in the transmission?? car has 77k on the dash I haven’t had slip or trans problems for the 2 years iv owned it (knock on wood) so I’m not sure if I should leave it or change the fluid? I’m obv changing the diff but the trans??? Some other knowledge or opinion would be much appreciated thanks. Iv also heard you can’t do it anyway cause you have to run it hot and obv I can’t do that with the whole thing out lol
I would do a regular fluid change at that milage.
The transmission has to be running to fill it to the proper level, the torque converter gets filled up when running and drains back to about half when off.
Just make sure it's filled, start it, fill it, then carefully run through all the gears while elevated and top off.
