Has anyone changed their Clutch Mc from the top of their car only? I had the car on the quick jack this morning, took off all the plastic shielding. I had a hell of a time fitting my (big) hands into that small space to take the piece off of the firewall. Taking off the washer reservoir seems more of a headache. I put everything back together, than realizing I didn't put the rubber boot back into place on the firewall. I put it back on from the top. Seems like I have more room and a better chance doing it from the top. Or keep my appointment with Vette Doctors and let them do it. Opinions?
I recently changed out my Clutch MC, and removing the washer reservoir makes the job a lot easier. Unfortunately the QuickJack prevents easy removal of the washer reservoir. If you have a regular jack, jack the left front up with it to remove the rear inner liner and washer reservoir, then have at it with the Clutch MC.

remove the wheel and wheel liner. Reach in through there
When you put it back together. Connect the MC rod to the shifter and put the c clip back on. I tied a wire to it and ran it through the firewall to get it through and then reached through the back while I had a friend inside the car rotate the plastic cap to get it seated into the firewall. We turned and wiggled it at the Same time. Took 5 minutes.
if your MC isn’t bench bled and you don’t have a speed bleeder. I’d take it to a shop or find a way to bench bleed it before installation. I’ve been chasing air bubbles for a month until I finally did it properly. Multiple vids on YT say its ok to vacuum bleed from the MC rez, that’s BS it kept introducing air into the lines and making me start the whole process over
When you’re done replacing it. Make sure you bleed through your slave. I had to run a whole bottle through to get all the old fluid and bubbles out.
The best thing that worked for me was with a speed bleeder and taking the bleeder screw out of it and inserting a vacuum tip from the vacuum bleeder for a snug fit
You’ll want to have the clutch pedal pressed down all the way and as you pump fluid out. I used wood to hold it down. You will need to keep an eye on the MC rez. Don’t let it run dry. I refilled mine about 6 times until it came out clean from the slave side with no bubbles. Pumped it 60 times and it’s done.
I would also like to point out I replaced the Clutch MC with P/N 19331709 as preventative maintenance, the new one came filled with DOT 4 fluid and there was no need to bleed the system.
