Default Service traction control message

I was at a car show today and when I started the car to go home I got these messages. Plus the engine light is flashing. There is I vibration also when I accelerate.
The car is a 2012 GS with 14,000 miles. The hood was open at the show. Could someone possibly have unplugged something?

You have a "cat damaging" misfire with a flashing MIL so don't delay in getting it fixed if it continues...the SAH also illuminates...I'd check that your plug wires are securely fastened...you can start there...if beyond your scope of repair I would seek out a diagnostic shop and NOT a dealership or general repair shop...they only know brake and oil changes and they will only change many parts until they fix it.

Thanks. That was it. I had a plug wire that had popped off. Car purrs like a kitten again. The only problem I have now is that the engine light is staying on. Should I maybe disconnect the battery ti reset it? Or do you think it will eventually go off? Thanks

You can go to pretty much any AutParts store and they will read the code.
They will reset it for you.At least they always have for me in the past.

It will eventually go out…you can try disconnecting the battery…Service Info says… “The DTC must run and pass under the same operating conditions that were present when the DTC failed”.

This is why I hate the electronics on these cars.
Service active handling system COULD BE, a misfire.
Why can't it just say engine misfire????

I think they disable AH just so you don't do something stupid with the car with a misfire...my Toyota 4 Runner will disable Traction Control if I get a misfire....work on a late model BMW and tell me about electronics !!...a C6 is primitive.

Thanks. I just took a quick 10 minute drive and the light is still on. I will give it a week or so before I disconnect the battery. I appreciate all your help.

It’s not the amount of time you drive but an “ignition cycle”…start the car for a minute and then shut it off and then start it again.

Just tried that to no avail. I started it and let it sit a minute then turned it off and started it again. Oh well.

Previously on a Chevy truck, I was told by a smog shop that it also involved heat cycles. Cold start, get up to normal driving temp, turn off, repeat.
