Default P1516 Throttle actuator control module (TAC)

I looked through the stickies and couldn’t find anything for the C6 Tac modules so here it goes.

after building my 08 Z06 I started getting the code P1516. I immediately thought it was the new NW 103 Tb giving me an issue. I came across a thread that there was a bad batch of sensors that came with them and they recommended using a GM sensor. I did that and it did not work. At first when I would get the code the car would go into limp mode.if it turned it off for a few seconds and turned it back on the check engine light would be on for the code still but no limp mode. Eventually(now) it will throw the code and not go into limp mode. I can not seem to find the part number for the Tac module for an 08 . The only number I find is 12578953, but it’s labeled for 03-07 only ..

if anyone can shed some light on this it would be great. Whether it’s a part number or a way to fix this code . In the meantime we are going to replace all the pig tails just in case one is damaged ..

You couldn’t find anything is because the C6 does not have a “TAC Module” like the C5…that part number is for a 97-04 Corvette…below is what sets the DTC and not knowing how much skill you have in electrical diagnostics I wouldn’t go any deeper…do you have a factory level or equivalent aftermarket scan tool ??…when using these non-OEM Throttle Bodies you’re pushing your luck and why replace pigtails ???…just inspect the connectors and perform a terminal tension test…aka “pin drag” test.

There is no TAC module on a C6, it is part or inside of the PCM and not replaceable unless you replace the PCM. Now for your code, did you change the settings in the PCM calibration for the new NW throttle body? If not that is the reason for the code or if you did change it and used the wrong the number. You have a bigger throttle blade which flows more air, so the PCM is expecting a certain throttle blade angle at a certain airflow, if the angle does not match the airflow you will get that code plus some running/idle issues as well.

So how can I tell you what’s causing it without looking at your car ??…it could be a bad battery, TB, ECM, TPS sensor, TAC motor, wiring issue like high resistance…at least with a factory level scan tool you might be able to figure out what’s wrong…if you don’t have one take your car to a diagnostic or auto electric repair shop…on the C6 both TPS sensors are “pull up” circuits which means the TPS voltages both increase from idle to WOT…I would maybe go back to the OEM TB and see what happens.

im sure the tuner changed the setting .. I do not tune my own cars. He’s looked at it a couple times already and made some adjustments and nothing gets rid of the code, but it stopped putting me in limp mode .. car is at a shop now , I’ll relay this message and the others to them
