Default Run A Flat vs Non Run A Flat

I've always had run a flat on my 2006 and never had an issue. I've never had a flat either to jump for joy having them. How many of you have changed to Non Run a Flat to save money, and for a better ride?

I switched to Non Run-Flat tires, Michelin Pilot Sport AS3, at about 32k miles and the ride has improved tremendously. 5k on the new set and so far no complaints. When you have a herniated disk on your back, you feel the bumps more. So any improvement, for me, is greatly welcomed. I have the Mag ride Susp. also which helps. Those Goodyear tires were terrible for ride. You could hit a dime on the road and feel it. But now, I do carry a tire plug kit and a compressor, but have not had to use it. Also note this car is not a daily driver, not sure of your situation.

I use regular tires (michelin PS4s) and just keep a slime kit/compressor and a plug kit in one of the cubby holes in the trunk. They ride and drive a lot better than the runflats.

Run flats give me piece of mind and I won’t be switching.

Better ride better handling. Quieter. It's a z rated tire. Pretty friggin tough. You won't go back to runcraps

I will be doing hot laps tomorrow night at Bristol Motor Speedway. I'm curious to see how my new Michelin ZP tires feel compared to the Goodyears.

In my experience the Michelin run flats are a bit quieter on the street than the Goodyear run flat tires.

Default Ditch the run flats

One of the first UPGRADES I did was ditch the run flats and install Bilstein shocks , what a ride difference, night and day.

I dont have run flats on mine. I also just took run flats off my SUV and realized (again) how much better the ride is without them.

I've never bought a run flat. Three C6's with probably 120K miles between them. Two were bought used and came with run flats. Changed them to non run flats soon after taking them home. I did put a few miles on my new GS before changing them out.

If I lived in a state that didn't allow my Sig to be with me at all times and traveled lots of miles, I might think differently.

Pick your poison. Runflats for me. I don't want to get stranded in the middle of nowhere with a flat that can't be repaired with a plug kit, Slime, and a compressor. A runflat can be driven on, albeit at a reduced speed, even with a big rip in the sidewall. Yes, I have had a couple of blowouts in the past.

I have always ditched the run flats. First thing if did on my new Z4 and my C6. The difference in ride is amazing. I keep a can of "fix-a-flat" in the car and a plug kit. Over the past 20 years have never had a flat, so I know my time is coming!
