Default Reduce engine power

Hi everyone need some help ASAP , I have a 2008 c6 car has been running fine for 2 years and one day I did a car wash and the car shut down on me in the middle of the road On the dash said reduce engine power , took it to the mechanic, they cleaned the throttle body. Took my car back went to the car wash again same thing happened. Took it in they replaced soemthing with the evaporator. Now I took it again to get it washed and car does the same thing shuts down. I’m assuming something with the water is touching somebody or anyone can help !?!?

You are probably having a water intrusion issue in your TPS sensor connector…remove the connector if it goes into REP again and see if water is in the connector…what Corvette owner goes through a car wash ??…you can try getting some dielectric grease and coat the rubber seal...the weather pack seals may also be leaking.

Yep. 99% of the time, when the C6 goes into limp mode, Code is going to point to to either the Throttle body sensors or the accelerator pedal sensors.

Both of these have two sensors each (think restat pad and swiper arms) and as the vane or pedal is being moved, the two sensors in each sensors work backwards against each other (one has rising rate, the other has lowering rate), and when these sensor per TB or pedal movement do not jig in movement.sensor feed back to each other, going to put car into limp mode.

So since is sounds like problem is only under the hood with water, then either connector problem at the TB, maybe at the ECM connector, or fray problem in the wires between the two connectors.

For what it's worth a friend of mine was stranded in Flagstaff AZ for 3 days while the dealer was trying to figure out what was wrong with his 2005 as it kept stalling. They finally decided to replace the ECM. When they disconnected the cables from the ECM water poured out of one of the connectors. Good thing this was the problem because there were no ECM's available in north America at the time. They figure this was caused by a rain storm a day earlier. How did water get under the fender and on to the ECM is another mystery but it did.

Water to the ecm, and it connectors, is an easy thing,

Since the front fender vents allows water to shot right into it the BCM location when washing the car.

As for ecm connector, although it has the rubber ring on it that kind of seals that side off to the outside of the connector socket, its the wire side of the connector that can allow water to enter into the connector as well.

As for getting to the ecm, do not need to remove the fender, just jack up the front passenger side, remove the tire, then on the back side of the fender well, will see the rear assess panel that has plastic center tab rods that you need to pull out to remove them, and under the car, will have 3 bolts that you need to remove on the bottom of the panel to remove the filler panel.
thick this,

First photo top left shows the rear fender panel cover removed.
https://www.google.com/search?q=c6+ecm+connector&client=firefox-b-1-d&sca_esv=6449538529ffda2f&udm=2&biw=128 0&bih=540&ei=6g0BZ4qfCceT0PEP_NyfsAk&ved =0ahUKEwiKvMi0_faIAxXHCTQIHXzuB5YQ4dUDCB A&uact=5&oq=c6+ecm+connector&gs_lp=Egxnd 3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiEGM2IGVjbSBjb25uZWN0b3JIs BFQ0wNY9g5wAXgAkAEAmAE5oAHYA6oBATm4AQPIA QD4AQGYAgOgAnfCAgUQABiABMICBhAAGAgYHsICC BAAGAgYHhgPmAMAiAYBkgcBM6AH4w4&sclient=g ws-wiz-serp[/img]

From here, can get to the ecm connector to release the cam locks to disconnect the connector from the ECM, use spray electrical cleaner to clean the connectors and pins, use silicone grease on the outer rubber seal gasket for the connector, and where the wires go into the back of the connector, again with silicone grease to seal them off as well. Some will say don't, but myself, tend to spray the connector and pins down with light coat of silicone spray, to help keep the connector from corroding long term if water or moisture does get to them.

The rest of the ecm itself, should be water tight, unless someone pulled it apart, and did not seal the seams with butyl rubber sealant, when they were bolting it all back together..
