Paddle shifters 2 questions
Sorry if that's a dumb question but I don't want to hurt the transmission.
2nd question, i thought I saw a post about replacement paddle shifters that convert it so the right side up shifts and the left down shifts? I've found i can make it work just fine with hands at 9 and 3 or 10 and 2.
As for question 2, the reason for paddle shifter mod, is you do not want to use your thumbs inside the wheel to shift the trans.
You do this on a HPDE track, catch the inside raised apex curb, take a front wheel off the track, the steering wheel is going to jerk, and break your thumb.
So with paddle shifters, you only want to use the tips of your fingers to pull the levers inward, keep your thumbs out of the inside of the wheel, and the wiring mod is to have the left lever on pull, shift the trans downward, right hand lever on pull, shift the trans up.
Where your thumbs should be,

One handed during manual shifts,

Just a mater of time until you break your thumb(s) .

So yes, on changing out the oem paddle levers, to something wider that you can get to with your finger tips,
And here is the wiring mod,

I have two problems with the stock paddles 1) I have had and currently have multiple other cars with paddle shifting and they are all down on left and up on right, so I’m finding it difficult to overcome the muscle memory when driving the C6. 2) I have small hands/short thumbs and actuating the up shift requires me to release my grip from the steering wheel. The pull is well positioned for me.
The swapping of wires is very well explained in this thread - thank you. My problem is sourcing replacement paddles. I’m not finding them when I search, so I’m hoping I can get pointed in the right direction. A couple of different designs to choose from would be ideal. Thanks in advance.
If I can’t find anything, I’m prepared to do the wire swap and find a way to relabel the thumb actuators, but I’d prefer paddles with a larger surface area.
