Default Electrical gremlins!

2008 Chevy corvette automatic

Hello everyone! I am in a pretty bad predicament. About 3-4 months ago the car started throwing random codes on the dash. ABS, Brake, TC, AntiTheft. Recently though, the car will not even come out of first gear. I have looked everywhere and have done most of what every for forum has told me to do. I got the battery tested, cleaned those two ground wires underneath the battery. I even got a new BCM and the issue is still there. At this point I am lost. I am more of a visual learner so maybe I am missing something. I think the only other option for me to do is to clean every ground wires underneath possible, the issue is I don’t know where they all are. If anyone could help out that would be great! I miss driving my car 😔

What DTC’s did you have ??…was any recent maintenance done on the car ??…was the BCM programmed ??…seeing you have some Anti Theft DTC’s I don’t think it is…it’s not plug and play !!…we don’t have a lot of information here to help you…cleaning random grounds isn’t going to help you if they are not involved in what you may have going on.

I had the codes ran once and the only thing that showed up was a code for the car running too lean, but it’s always ran lean. The BCM I had in the car originally was programmed, it’s the same BCM that has always been in the car. Even after a motor swap the BCM was reprogrammed again and it had no issues. I only remember having my control arms replaced last year and a little after that, the car started having these issues. I only cleaned the grounds because that’s what the other forums were telling me. This was honestly random. The car has been running fine ever since I got in 6 years ago. So I can’t correlate anything to the issue. I can’t drive the car either so I’d have to buy a code reader to have codes ran again for ya. I’ll let you know once that happens.

Well it shouldn’t be running lean…anything over +10% on your long term fuel trims is a concern…if you can afford it I’d buy a scan tool and not a cheap code reader…they are useless and won’t help you diagnose cars…you must have used a scan tool because a code reader will not read ABS or Brake trouble codes…if you see “history” codes just erase them and on the next ignition cycle see what returns…some info you see on these Forums and even this one can lead you down the wrong path with misinformation…you can get a good aftermarket bidirectional scan tool for less than $500.00.

ok, thank you very much. I think that’s the route I’m going to have to take because I feel I’ve been led down the wrong path a few times about this situation, hence me buying a brand new BCM for absolutely no reason.

Since you mentioned you have an automatic, then I have to assume that you don't have a Z06 or ZR1 since those were only manual. This is a Z06/ZR1 forum, you may get a better response posting in the General C6 section.

Default You wont believe it

You guys will literally not believe what was causing this issue! After months of checking batteries, cleaning ground wires, adjusting bcm connectors, and out right buying a bcm. The issue this whole time was a connector in the driver side door. The one that controls the windows and mirrors was loose. Which was causing my anti theft to stay on which was causing all of the lights to appear! I am BAFFLED!
