Default Cleaning Vera ram air filter

Read a few posts about cleaning the air filter …..I took mine out today after maybe 7,000 miles ….One side was dirtier then the other of course …

When I put this system on my car three years ago the filter was not green just to make a note ….07 Z06….

I read on some posts there is an air flow direction on the filter …I see absolutely no markings indicating this and they look exactly, exactly the same on both sides .Of course the front ( facing the front ) was more dirtier then the other so I’m guessing it’s doing it’s job …

Was able to remove a lot of surface dirt off the filter but I was not sure if I should wash the filter …

On my other vettes I had a K&N system …Is it safe to wash the Vera ram system ? Does it need re oiling ? Not sure if Vera ram like K&N use oil …

Anyone washing there Vera ram system ?

You can clean it just like a K&N filter. Mine was also very dirty and corroded like yours. I binned it for a K&N 33-2522 just had to trim the excess on the rubbery material and it was a direct swap and half the price of the vararam filter.

They sell a cleaning kit on the vara ram site. Though I don't know of anything special about it so could use any normal filter cleaner / oil.

Thanks for the K&N part number FelixP.

Actually called vara ram industries ..There like oh no do not use K&N cleaning solution…The cleaning solution could damage the pleats …..I figured he would say that …Buddy of mine has a mechanic friend that has the green cleaning solution and the oil..

Im sure you could use K&N cleaner ..The spray ? I would use what they recommended…..Just surprised how stained my filter has become after 8,000 miles ..

I thought those stains are from the metal mesh on the filter rusting, I didn't fancy that going into my engine so I binned it for the K&N. I just trimmed the rubber edge so it would sit flat in the housing, job done

I wash mine just like you would a K&N filter. Let it dry completely and lightly oil it with the green oil from Vararam. Do not over oil it!

Cleaned my filter today using the green filter kit ..All though the surface dirt came off a good portion of the wire mesh is rusted out ….Never had this before but always used K&N filters on my other corvettes..

Im just going to change it …Vara ram has a race filter for track use ….It’s the same size and shape and the cost is 20 dollars more ..Spoke to the tech today and he said it can be used but needs to be cleaned more regularly then the green filter …Probably just go with the green filter ….I can’t put mine back in my car with all that rust on the screens ..
