Default P0171 Code Too Lean on Bank 1

Ever since I installed a Corsa Performance Cold Air Intake my Vette has been firing a this code. I clear the code and it eventually comes back after a couple of months. The engine is not idling rough and the acceleration is fine. Has anyone had this problem? I have checked for air leaks. I have changed the MAF Sensor.

If you haven't done so already, I suggest you re-install the stock intake and see if the problem goes away. That will provide us with important information to help solve your problem.

If there were a vacuum leak (downstream of the MAF sensor) after changing to your new intake BOTH banks should be throwing a P0171/0174…what are your Long Term Fuel Trims on both banks ???…bank 2 LTFT may not be high enough to set the P0174…how did you check for air leaks ???…if those Long Terms are elevated run the engine at 3000 RPM for a few minutes…if the fuel trims decrease you have a vacuum leak.

I have gotten that same code on my stock vert (corsa exhaust) and had the dealership check it out...they did everything to get it to throw the code again and were unsuccessful. A month later I got it again and just cleared it . not going to worry about it.

You have a leak somewhere. The Corsa cat back is not going to do it since it is behind the O2 sensor. I sounds like you may have a leak in the intake, it will be behind the MAF so check the connector from the CAI to the TB and make sure it is secure and not leaking. Any vacuum leak can also cause this so any other work that may have been done at the same time or close to when this was done.

I installed the carbon fiber, Corsa air intake. About 10 miles after install was getting CEL so I checked the codes and it was lean on bank one and bank two. Cleaned the MAF with CRC maf cleaner from autozone. Have driven the car about 500 miles and no check engine lights. Fingers crossed.

I have found that the clamps that come with most aftermarket intakes are the culprit. Intakes come with the typical cheap worm drive clamps. But the clamps do not expand and contract with heat cycling of the engine which can cause a leak.

I replaced the garbage worm drive clamps with a version that keeps constant tension on the couplers and allows for expansion and contraction.

Just replace your existing clamps with the proper sized constant tension clamp. These seal better and won't dig in and destroy the hose couplers.
