Shimming Replacement Torque Converter
Replacing my trans with a low mileage 6l80,
question:
I found an install video and one of the guys was saying that the TC has to be shimmed. I don’t remember my old trans having washers in between the TC and FlexPlate on the TC
i got a 1/8 and 3/16 drill bits and I mean there was no space in between obviously. I added two grade 8 spacers. And it put me right in the middle of 1/8 - 3/16 for spacing.
Do I really need to do this if it’s a stock converter?
just scared to destroy my trans if I’m doing this incorrectly. Did anyone else have to do this for just a stock converter?
