Default NA Build using The LSR Block...

Ok so my current 09 427" cracked #7 sleeve, so I'm looking at the LSR block and I'm wondering if there's anyone out there who built a large cubic inch (standard deck) NA build...? How big can you go? I'm hearing that if you stroke it too much the bottom of the pistons will come out of the sleeves, and cause premature engine wear... I also have the option to reuse my stock LS7 crank and rods. I am set up with the flex fuel sensor, and as of right now, I run pump E85 100% of the time. But I still want to be able to run pump 93 or 94 if have to. My 427 use to make 660hp and 625tq to the wheels with 12:5 to 1 compression... Also is anyone turning more than 7,500 rpm?

HPR built a 468 cubic inch standard deck Ls
I would look @ CNC Motorsport tall deck short block maybe a 495 cid
you can install a tall deck by buying ls9 motor mount bracket/and shorter motor mount and a shim body kit.

Okay cool. I'll give the boys a HPR a call and pick their brain a little bit, so changing the motor mounts is no problem. So do you know of someone who sells the body mount shims for this conversion to the tall block motor ? Have you personally done something like this? Also, will the stock headers and exhaust bolt up to a tall deck with the different motor mounts? Thanks for the info. There's so many options out there, and I'm trying to pin one down for my winter project...

Do the tall deck blocks require a different intake manifold?

you have to have intake spacers RHS sale them and ICT,their been a few people on the forum that installed tall deck engine
I haven’t but I’ve been looking into it,if I have issues with my engine.
if it was me I would really look at CNC Motorsport.
to me they seem to have the best prices with quality parts but that’s just me

I depends on the manifold and how it impact the cowl area. The MSD back of the manifold is pretty close to the back cowl for about 1-2 inch of the manifold length. Thus any additional height would require some kind of modification. The tall deck will raise any manifold up 5/8 of an inch about 1/2 of that increase comes from the 1/2 inch more deck height (but at an angle so less) and then to readapt the old intake to it you need an adapter plate which is 1/2 inch thick itself but also at an angle so less overall height increase. Because the LS motor the manifold bolts being straight up and down complicates things. There was a guy on here who ran a tall deck and had the 3/8 shorter engine mounts and they shimmed the body 1/4 inch so 5/8 total. Basically the spacer bolts to your existing manifold bolts (which are now further apart) and moves the new ones down to match you manifold. Spacer photos below for clarification.
