NAV Radio Upgrade

I don't need the navigation to work nor do I want an aftermarket unit since I just play music through a Bluetooth adapter. I just want to know if anyone has done this swap and made it work.
The problem with the volume pot, is the bottom of it inside has a rubber bumper that is the rebound part for the shaft, the rubber bumper has started to fall apart, and why the **** is not longer working. If you have good micro part talent, not hard to resolderer the pot off the board, pull the pot apart, and just replace the bumper that has fallen apart, with a bumper from a key board key isntead.

Other option, just get a replacement pot from mouser, to solder back into the board to replace the old pot, to solve the volume pot isntead.
As for swaping the oem radio, can be done, but remember that the different OEM radio added to the car, is going to go into lock mode as soon as you start the motor, and will need a tech2 to remarry the new radio to the car. Dealers charge about $150 to do this, so keep that in mind if you don't have a tech2, or know someone that does that can remarry a radio to the car for free isntead.
As for buying a used Nav system, 99% of the time they are pulled from the cars in the first place since they are broken, and may just end up with someone elses problems. Granted that they do get pulled to be upgraded to aftermarket deck, but since often its running in the $1K+ range to start with, it not something that someone is going to do, until they do have problems with the old OEM deck that is forcing their hand isntead.
As for connectors,
If the cars has bose on the door speakers, then the connector to the left will be taped back to the large connector that is in use for the CD player. If car is not bose, then will need to wire in the third connector to the car, since one of the wires on that connector is the VSS wire. Connector top right, is for the nav antenna and get the Nav disc for the radio on the cheap from Ebay (latest nav disc for the radio is 2015 maps, so talk that with a grain of salt.
Simply, if you don't want to repair the old desk/pay someone to fix it, then go shop for an after market deck instead.
Out the gate, will not need to pay to have another OEM radio remarried to the car, and even the current aftermarkets radios without nav software on them, light years better than even the old outdated OEM nav decks.
Hell, if steering wheel leather is worn, cheap enough to just get the leather saturn wheel with push buttons, use your vet logo air bag on int, and your a down deal on the steering wheel, without havin to pay the corvette tax (Saturn leather wheel, and the 06-11 Vet wheel are the same, .just different logo's on the center air bags).

I couldn't stand the Saturn/G5 wheel and don't have steering wheel buttons so it's that much less to do when I'll put a screen

I drove a 1974 Opel manta for about 10 years, fun little car, 4-cylinder, 4 sped, rear wheel drive. They were sold and serviced at Buick dealers
