Default Steering wheel radio controls

I am considering adding steering wheel radio controls to my 2006 A6 C6 base with an installed and functioning 2012 Nav radio. I have paddle shifters and telescoping steering column. So if I understand all the threads and posts I've tried to read I think I need the following:
2007+ steering wheel with paddle shift and radio control buttons
2007+ clock spring (new)
2007+ wiring harness
I have looked on ebay and there appears to be used harness and steering wheels available.
Does this sound like I have the correct items listed to do this mod?
I have read many posts and threads with, at times, confusing information. Any added info is always welcome as we all never stop learning at even my age of 72!
Not afraid to tackle any project on this car as I have already done several R&R's in various areas.
Thanks!!

Close, and just need to add the side pods to the wheel you have, that will be cheaper in most cases then changing out the entire wheel. Other option is to just pick up a saturn leather wheel with the push buttons, since it the same steering wheel that is on the later C6s as well, and use your corvette emblem air bag with it,

Yes on later clock spring so you get the needed wires to the column connector,
And will just need to add the wires to the column connector down line to the bus..
go to step 2,

As for after market radio adapter, just make sure it works with the steering wheel controls for later cars since will be getting later model clock spring as well.
If the car has bose, then make sure adapter model works with it a well.
Plug in car as 2010, since the year did have radio with steering wheel controls.

As for after market radio adapter, would be with the PAC TP5 GM II, and make sure to set it up correctly from the start..

Thanks for the reply. I found a 2008 steering wheel with paddles and radio control buttons complete on Ebay for $100. So I would need a 2008 or newer clock spring? The installed radio is out of a 2012 c6, not aftermarket, so it should be able to accept the radio control wiring, correct? Do I still need to find a wiring harness to make things work from the wheel to the radio? Sorry this is the part that is confusing for me.

If OEM nav, and the car does not have bose, then will need to pick up the third connector to hard wire to the car. If car is bose, then the third connector will be taped back on the main connector. Also, if nav, then make sure to install nav antenna, and the mic as well. Your older VCIM will not have blue tooth, so if your going to use the phone with it for phone calls, will need to be hard wired into the nav via the usb connector (that you will need to add to the back of center of console). If just CD deck, then direct swap connector for connector.

Yes on later clock spring that is set up with the needed connection for wheel controls itself, and as stated, the connector that the clock spring connectors to in the column, is where your going to add the wires to it, back to the car (same connector, but will need to add the missing wires to it that you can find on the kwal link.

As for oem radio, once you have it installed, only put the car into ACC mode to test. The first time you go to start the car in run mode, BCM is going to check every module on the car, and it going to lock the OEM radio. To get it unlocked and married to the new car its in, will need to use a Tech II tool. So on that note, check around to see if anyone has a tech II to give you a hand on unlocking the radio, and getting it married to your car. Also, tell me if CD player, or Nav unit, since the menu you use to re-marry the radio, uses different menus in tech2win.
Hence here is the tricky part, since dealer will charge about $150 to marry the deck to the car if you can not find someone with Tech II to do it for you for free, and why most will just forgo trying to use the older OEM nav radios, and instead, just installing an after market deck that is light years ahead in features instead.

Yes it is an OEM nav radio out of a 2012 c6 that I installed it and the GPS antennae last summer. Took it to the Chevy dealer and they unlocked/married it for $60. So that part should be okay. It is a Bose system w/3LT options. I am not doing the phone option. So I will have to add the three wires from the clock spring connector to the radio or try and buy a used harness off ebay for the controls with all the wiring connectors already installed instead? I could not find the specific kwal link that talks about wiring the clock spring to the radio. When ordering a new clock spring is there a difference for radio controls and non radio controls/automatic or manual trans. Also can I reuse my existing air bag?

No worries, and just keep in mind that you may need to get/burn the satellite update disc to deal with Nav not showing the correct time,
the latest Nav disc for the C6 is only updated to 2014 maps, and lets just say that the features of the Nav deck, pretty much ice age outdated to start with.
