Default 2008 Z06 Cup Holder Replace

I don't think this is a new thread, but I haven't seen a specific question-answer. The lid/cover on my cupholder has deteriorated and basically fallen apart. I have ordered and received a new one, and have looked on YouTube for videos showing how to replace it or at least remove the center console trim. I found one (Center Console, Factory Radio and Shifter **** Removal--Part 1 of 4) that shows the person removing that part. My problem is that when following the instructions, the trim piece feels so solidly attached that I'm not sure if there is another screw/bolt holding in place. The driver side of the trim pops free, but the passenger side won't budge. I'm concerned that I'm going to break the trim. Since it's carbon fiber, that would very expensive. Any advice?

I'm not sure which trim piece you are referring to that is difficult to remove, but MGW has a great YouTube video on removing the console. Once you get the console out, it is easy to see how to replace the cup holder.

Thank you! The piece I'm referring to is the carbon fiber piece that starts just in front of the console storage compartment and goes up and wraps around the climate control ducts. I know once I get that off the cupholder will be easy to remove because it's attached to the bottom of the console trim piece. From one of the videos I've watched it appears that the piece in question fits into the console base using a series of tabs that go into slots on the console base and dash. There are also two screws/bolts that are accessed inside the console storage compartment, and two more that are on the passenger side of the console hidden by the parking brake boot. After removing thes I am able to get some movement of the piece at the back area just in front of the storage compartment, and also on the driver's side going forward to the dash. But, the piece feels very solidly attached on the passenger side as I move forward from just in front of the parking brake boot. I'm concerned about using too much force and damaging the piece.

You must have the 4LZ interior with the leather dash. As far as I know the carbon fiber pieces do not need to be removed in order to remove the entire console. Here is a link to the video I mentioned:

Those tabs simply plug into grip clips. Unfortunately if those tabs are stuck in the clips there is always the possibility that the tab will snap off when pulling on those stubborn ones. As the plastic ages the chance of them snapping off gets greater. All you can do is pull with enough force to separate them and hope for the best.
