Default Push To Start Issue/New Corvette Owner

Hello, I am a first time owner of a 2006 Base model Corvette. I do not know much about the car or its features. I've had the car for about 2 weeks and I have to put the key fob in the glove box to start it. This is every time. Should I be able to just the start car by the push button? Also, I have to be REALLY close for the car doors to lock or unlock. Other than this small issue. The car runs GREAT and everything is in great shape. Can someone point me in the direction to correct this? TIA.

I forgot to add that the car battery is fine and I've replaced the battery in the key fobs.

You should be able to just use the push button on the dash. Sounds like it's not holding a program with the fob. Read up on programming your fob in the owners manual. If you've done all of that, the only thing I can think of is disconnecting the car battery for 5 minutes and the try and "reboot" the system. ??

FIRST thing is read your owners manual…if your car didn’t come with one you can find a PDF version online…make sure your FOB battery is new and reads 3.2 volts…you have to be within 3 feet of the door to passively open it…there are 4 antennas of which 2 are in each door B pillar on the 2005-2007 and further back in the wheel well area from 2008-2013…make sure you don’t have something like cell phone chargers or anything that emits RF that interferes with the wireless signal…there is a TSB which is below…you only need to use the back up FOB slot where there is the 3rd antenna if the FOB battery is dead…4th is in the trunk area…as a new member it’s good if you fill out your profile with as much info on your car as possible…that you live in the US and are a male isn’t enough info !!

A lot of those fob batteries are almost dead in the package. Check the voltage before you put it in. Also, where do you have the fob when you try to start the car? Right front pants pocket with nothing else in it usually works for me but maybe 1% of the time I get the no fob message. Shift my position a little and it's fine.
