Default Backup Camera Installation Help

I’d love to get some tips and instructions from some of the forum members who’ve installed a backup camera on their C6 before.

I’m installing a new Kenwood radio and I want to also install a backup camera.

I need some advice on how to install and run the wire for the backup camera to the Kenwood unit. I assume there are different ways to do this and I’d love some advice on the best way to install the camera and run the camera wire to the radio.

Thanks in advance!

Default Camera

I ran the wire on the passenger side and tucked it under the trim next to the seat and up the slant.
It stays tucked under the carpet to the batter box and then I found a hole in the rear and I could push it through.
I picked up power off the reverse lights but that occasionally makes that reverse light very dim.
If I could do it over, I would pick up power from the fuse box or under the dash
I have a license plate bracket camera and ran that wire up through the light bracket and plugged them together.
Front camera is a whole different animal. I had to push the wire through a spot in the firewall and I ruined a couple cords before I figured it out. The rest was easy.

Thanks so much for your tips and ideas. My car is in the shop getting the harmonic balancer replaced and I’m going to tackle my radio upgrade myself at home when I get it back.

Thanks for the compliment. This car has never sat outside one night since I bought it in 2013! I’ve babied this car since I’ve owned it and I love to get it out and drive it when I can.

It’s Torch Red!
