I know this has been discussed many times. I’m getting conflicting answers. I’m changing the fluid in my 2011 grandsport with the manual. The person I bought the car off of supplied me with 8 qts of Mobil 1 full synthetic ATF. From what I read I should be putting non synthetic ATF in there. Can anyone concur? Am I OK using this fluid? People have told me the full synthetic eats away at the carbon on the synchronizers
I had my TR6060 R&Rd by a Tremec specialist/distributor a few years ago, he told me to use Havoline or Castrol MERCON V trans fluid for the refill when i got it back from him. That's exactly what i filled it with, zero issues since.
Yea I called a place in Texas ad that’s who gave me the info about not using the synthetic. I just think it’s strange that ya can’t really find a concrete answer anywhere. Usually the web has some pretty solid info. Thanks
Factory fill is Dexron III ATF. Not sure if that is still produced or not. RPM transmission recommends Royal Purple Synchromesh. I put that in and no issues. Stock trans was grinding second gear at 6k miles.
Anyone have the ACDelco part number for the Dexron III ATF, I’m seeing Dexron VI in my search results - or any other brand/mfg with Dexron-III on the label is compatible with the TR6060 transmission ?

I have a 2010 GS manual coupe. I’m in the middle of doing a bunch of maintenance. I’ve read as much as I could about which ATF fluid to use in the 6060 manual transmission and the clear winner was Redline D4 ATF, which is synthetic. I saw nothing that warned against synthetic use. Here is a pic from a Camaro thread where he emailed Redline tech about D4 ATF for the T6060:
Here is another informative answer from Redline:
I tried the D4 in my stock box in an attempt to remedy a grinding second gear synchronizer. Didn’t help. Ordered a RPM Level 7 and put in the Royal Purple Synchromesh they recommended. Shifts like butter.
