Default Top not secure message after BCM swap

Hi,

I have a 2006 Convertible with a bad BCM. (No comm in techII). I replaced it with a bcm from a 2007 coupe incl vin flash and VTD relearn).
I enabled the power top option with a techII (setup BCM).

Everything on the car works and the car starts fine. The only problem i have is the power top. I get the "Top not secure" message on de DIC and the tonneau cover doesnt release..
I noticed in the data display of the BCM its says "header switch: unlatched" when the top is latched and when i unlatch the top it says latched.

What could be causing this issue?
Is the BCM not correct because its a year younger, ie does it need to be a 2006 version?
Did the SPS flash not work (vin changed correctly!) is it missing a section of software for the top maybe?
Did the enabling of the power top option not work?

Note, the power top works fine with the old BCM.

You have to be very careful when ordering a module such as the BCM that is not the same part number or year as your car as the input pin outs for that module may change or may not even be there year to year…a 2006 and 2007 BCM connector view below…for 06 look at pins 33,42,64….now look at the BCM you installed…pins 33,42,47….they are different so make the comparison between them…that is the only thing I can think of…the C1 (J1) connector is the only one that has anything related to the folding top.

AC Delco has remanufactured body control modules now and they seem to be cheaper than what salvage yards are asking for used units.
19473710 looks to be the part # for your 06

OP should use the part number on his OE BCM…he could contact his closest dealership parts department for the latest part number using his VIN…I wouldn’t trust part numbers off the internet !!

his Part number isn't going to exist since the parts have been renumbered, but yes he should definitely verify

type the part number into Google and they'll pop up. They vary by year. Go to rock auto. They might have your year in stock and might not, but youll get a part number at least. You can find them at most gm parts websites and they are popping up on ebay as well.

Thank you for your answer C5 Diag.
I cross reverenced all the wires for the power top using your post.
Only one wire is in a different position between 2006 and 2007 for the Power Top.
2006 C1 pin 64, and in 2007 its in C1 pin 4 (dark blue wire).
I checked it in the car and it is in pin 4.
This means all the wires are in the correct spot for 2007.
Maybe this is a MY 2007? (VIN says 2006).

I think the solution is to order the correct BCM for 2006.

But the 2007 ECM is not a 25790451 but a 15916669 (but should be the same)

Yes, you need the 2006 BCM.

These are the OEM part numbers from Alldata…best to check with your Chevy dealer for the most updated or alternate part number.
