Default P0340 Cam Position Sensor

My '06 threw this code over the weekend. It started after a bit of cranking and seemed to run ok, but, obviously it needs to be dealt with. I watched a few videos on changing the sensor out, and I think I can manage it, but I understand that there's a relearn procedure involved. Can someone clue me in on what I'm up against, thanks.

There is no relearn for the Cam Sensor only the Crank Sensor…I always advise to check the wiring before changing the sensor but you do what you see fit…I would stay away from purchasing off Amazon or Ebay !!

Replaced cam position sensor today. It was a pia, but only took a couple of hours. P0340 code cleared and car runs fine again. Thanks again.

Did your cam sensor balloon out (the nylon tube expands over time) making it more difficult to just pull right out?

No; it pretty much fell out. The plastic housing was broken so it wasn't seating. How that happened, I'll never know, however the old one was a dark brown, unlike the GM/AC Delco one I installed which was a light tan color.
