Anybody have any thoughts of this shop? I have read good things about them but they seem arrogant and pricey. I said I would like to provide a summit racing cam 8706 turbo cam because I don’t want high lift and large overlap. I don’t think you necessarily need an ATI harmonic dampener, so I suggested summit racing brand dampner and here is the response I got…

What the hell is wrong with a cam on my 2012 grandsport that is on the milder side with not an aggressive lope? Can’t a shop tune any cam?

Good Morning Sir,

I spoke with our owner and calibrator and these aren't parts we would be interested in installing. We are open to other brands of camshafts but it would have to be something we have had experience with so we can provide the best end result to you on the build.

If you would like to use one of our camshafts and an ATI balancer then we are more than happy to get this done for you sir.

Respectfully,
Andrew

They are far and away one of the premier LSX shops in the country and have a reputation to stand behind. Can't say I blame them for doing it their way.

I went through the same with them on my 02 Trans Am build. They didn't want to mess with it really and it makes sense why.

Shops don’t like to install customer supplied parts, especially when they aren’t big name parts.

Vengeance has a huge track record of success... frankly (and I don't mean to sound like a dick by saying this but) they know more than you and everyone on here combined, and you should probably listen to them. They've been in the game a long time. I don't read that email as arrogance, I read it as them trying to steer you in the right direction. They won't put their name on subpar parts, these guys are the experts... Just like LMR, RPM, or Cordes... They've been in the game long enough to have experimented with every combo you can imagine, and they know what works and what doesn't.

Bottom line:
If the shop doesn't want to do the work, look elsewhere....

It comes down to reputation.

They don't want to put their name on your car if your not going to be running what they recommend. You were fast as **** to post this on a public forum, imagine how much faster you'd post if your build fucked up... you surely wouldn't include that the custom cam you supplied delaminated and caused there to be metal in your oil filter... you'd blame it on them. They know that, we know that.... its all good man. Its how social media flows now days.

That said, either use them for their expertise and move forward or find another smaller shop that you can provide more input and parts to. If I want something and am steadfast in my decision I tell them what I want and for them to order it. I've never had a problem that way.

I took my '18 GS to them a few months ago for the stage 3 engine enhancement. They send pictures during the process to keep you updated. They have sterile rooms to do the engine work. They removed the engine, cleaned the compartment up clean as a whistle, installed the cam of their choice to increase hp and remove the AFM crap. You can look up the stage 3 work on their website. It is now running 498 hp to the rear and is tuned to absolute perfection. They installed Sparco seats and harnesses as requested. I will never take a vehicle to another shop for custom work again. Top notch personnel and equipment. Actually, they can and do build vehicles from scratch including chassis. You want it? they can do it. Yes, they do charge for it though. Worth it because you pickup the vehicle knowing it is done right and without any worries. Their shop is for real.

@Vengeance Racing is actually on here, I'm sure they would be happy to add some clarity.
