Default Mighty Mouse LS7/ Dry Sump Vent Line?

I have a mighty mouse set up on my Z and it appears to be connected right per the instructions I found(it came on the car) but I am doing some work on the car and pulled off the coupler from the Varram intake (the metal style) that houses he MAF and it also has the what I am guessing is the vent line from the dry sump tank. Its the line closest to the dipstick and goes right into that coupler. When I opened the butterfly, I ran my finger inside the TB and it was covered in oil. Shouldnt that vent line be ran into the catch can rather than the intake? This is my first dry sump car, so normally would just take the PCV valve and pull it and put a breather on the crank case.

Can you post a picture of how your catch can is run and the line from the intake you are talking about? From what you describe, I think the line from you air intake going to the oil tank is just the fresh air line that the PCV system uses to pull in fresh air.

So it definitely is worth it to read about the LS7 PCV system as it is a bit different than a lot of cars. It does not have a PCV valve; the PCV system is regulated by a small orifice to limit too much oil getting into the intake. How well that works is debatable. Some people add in small PCV valves.

As for oil in your intake behind the throttle body, it could be oil residue from before the catch can was installed. Or if the catch can is full of oil, then it isn't doing anything and needs to be drained. And it is possible that your can may not be hooked up properly, so it is good to post a picture for people to comment.

I have attached diagram of the stock LS7 PCV system. Your catch can would typically be connected into and between the valley cover port and the intake manifold port as the "air" coming from the valley cover is what contains the oil vapors that the catch can is supposed to condense.

Air enters from the intake, goes into the oil tank, goes out of the oil tank having started picking up gases, then goes into the valve covers, circulates into the air spaces in the engine picking up more gases, then the "dirty" air exists the valley cover, and enters the intake manifold where the gases get combusted. The underside of the valley cover has a condensation system to recover and condense oil vapors so you aren't blowing oil out of your engine.

Here is the valley pan orifice he is talking about it is .100 in diameter. People can get confused and think a 3/8 line means a 3/8 hole - far from it.

These are the pictures I have since I need to send to them to find out which model it is to get a new top since it fell apart. Both of the lines run into the right spots according to their directions on the website. The top photo, the line coming off the dry sump tank closest to the mighty mouse is what goes into the intake. Last night I did spray some MAF cleaner into the hole on the intake spacer when I was cleaning the MAF and no residue came out of it. I also took carb and choke cleaner and ran it through the vent line on the dry sump and it was also clean coming out. So not really sure if the system is bad, or what. I will get better pictures tonight of the entire routing

Have you tried draining the catch can to see if it is full? Worth checking.

Also, realize that even with a catch can, you will still get some oil residue going into your intake. It will significantly reduce the amount, but there will still be some.

I looked at the window and it looks clean. I plan on pulling it out and ensuring that its empty since I cant get the drain undone without removing it.

It did have some in it, maybe 2oz or so. I reached out since the breather is trashed and they do not make the breather any longer so I ordered a new one. I am also going to change all the lines since I am sure the hoses are lose too. Thanks for all the help
