2008 Corvette. Where does the red power cable that goes to the alternator originate? I followed it from the alternator back behind the engine but lose it from there. I thought it went to the starter but there's only one cable on the solenoid. The two pos cables from the battery go to the starter and the fuse block. There must be a blown fusable link because there is no power to the original cable going to the alternator and its been replaced by a separate cable running from the alternator to the terminal on the fuse block. Would like to put it back to stock if possible. Thanks.
The B+ cable from the battery and the alternator join up at starter solenoid...for the fear of burning up the car you should have a fusible link going from the alternator to the starter or wherever it's going.
Well that’s what I thought. Right now there’s only one cable going to the solenoid and it’s coming from the battery so obviously the other one has been removed. I think I’ll run a new wire with a fuse able link. Thanks for the response.
No problem…I’d just buy some cable and maybe invest in some copper lugs and a heavy duty crimper…I did my positive and negative battery cables with these…if you have those crappy OEM battery terminals I’d get rid of those and use these…an auto electric may be able to make a cable up for you.
