My trunk key will not turn no matter what I have done. I don’t need it now but I want it to work just in case. It is the correct key and I have cleaned and looked at the release mechanism. Pulling the tab it connects to works perfect. I’ve tried looking but next to none exist in good condition. I’m at a loss. Any ideas?
WD-40, up into the tumblers, and let is sit for a while to allow it to penitrate before you try it again.
Also, could be that old cyclinder was distroyed, was replace with another cylinder that your key is not going to fit. So on that note, look at the plate rivets to see if they look factory or not.
If not factory rivets, then cylinder plate can be pulled by removing the rivets, and take the cylinder down to a lock smith to have him re-pin it for the oem Vin key.
I recommended after you have it working properly, you take piece duck tape, use quarter to make perfect circle and tape over the key cylinder to keep dirt clogging the mechanism.
