The tube itself shouldn't move, it's bolted to the engine and transmission. The driveshaft inside may have play need a better explanation of the diagnosis.

Yes, having worn torque tube bushings can cause a P0300 misfire and there is a TSB concerning this.

Default Torque tube. Not under standing.

I was told that if I have bad bushing on my shaft in my torque tube this can cause a misfire and give a code of P0300, and keep my engine light on? I’m not understanding this, how is that the problem?

The bearings went bad on my torque tube at 100k miles. It just rattled. No misfire or codes.

The computer detects misfires by looking for drops in crankshaft RPM. If the RPM drops are correlated to a particular cylinder, you get a cylinder-specific misfire code. If they are all over the place, you get a P300 random/multi-cylinder misfire code.

If the torque tube couplers have fallen apart, this can cause variations in instantaneous crankshaft speed that look like misfires to the computer.

Other causes of misfires are more common.

You posted this exact same question 4 days ago…please no multiple posts !!…I will not delete this post but I showed you the TSB related to worn TT bushings and P0300 misfires…find a diagnostic shop and take the car there to confirm this...I have merged both threads.

Sorry about double posting, I’m fixing to have a $5000 dollar job done on my car. First mechanical had my car for three weeks, change all kinds of parts,$2500 coast, got a second option and now I’m told the torque tube bushing are bad, I’m not a mechanic, I’m just looking for experience advice, I’m just wanting some good advice.

With you not being mechanically inclined for ANY diagnostic work a general repair shop or dealership is not where you want to go...they only change parts as you saw…. diagnosticians are a cut above…well MANY cuts above your typical " garage mechanic" as far as knowledge and skill...a "Voodoo Doctor" compared to a "Harvard Trained Doctor" is how I can compare it for you….a good diagnostian could have accurately diagnosed your car in a little over an hour…advise here will not diagnose your car…testing will !!

$5k is way too much for the torque tube. I would look for another shop. I bought a low mile used TT for $250 and paid $1200 to get it installed.
