Road Debris Damge

I had a problem yesterday driving on a busy highway near my home. I was going about 55 mph and I saw something in my lane at the last second. It looked like a piece of plastic when I first saw it, but sadly for me it was a good sized piece of metal. My C6 GS hasn’t been lowered, but it sits pretty low as we all know. My wife was with me and I didn’t want to jerk the car to miss whatever it was in the road so I tried to straddle it down the middle of the car. It didn’t look too big and I thought I could clear it, but I was wrong!
When I passed over it there was quite a sound and it hit my car under the drivers side a couple,of times.
I’m including some pictures along with the product I ordered to try to patch the hole this metal piece made.
Does everyone think this is a good product to use to patch the hole or is there something better that I should use?
Any ideas on what color and type of paint I should use to cover the repair when I finish would be appreciated?
Thanks for any re[lies and suggestions.
I used JB weld, I think I used 2 coats to fully fill the damaged area, and the grey color matched the panel pretty well.

Don't use that short strand "kitty hair" body filter. It's really made for boats. The first thing I was taught with regards to body work on a Corvette, is that's is not a boat. EVERYTHING about it is different.
I have used with great success, and would recommend Bondo/3M fiberglass resin jelly with a small piece of fiberglass mat. Don't use cloth.
As for paint, go down to the local PPG with your paint code. They'll mix you a perfect match to the factory UNFADED paint. They'll even put it in a rattle can for you. Also get a can of blender. This will help to match your current paint.
