Yes you can and transferring the electronics is easy. If you care about the fob number imprinted on the top end of your existing case, you need to purchase the right part number, as well. This is a sample Amazon link where you can purchase the replacement case & order either fob #1 or #2. This one includes the electronics, but inexpensive enough to discard and just use the case. Good luck GD
2010 GS. Case is a little loose.
Has anyone bought just a case? Is it a simple job to switch the guts.
I did this to mine and after buying 3 different fobs on amazon the key fob fell off the key in a parking lot, stranding me and required a tow home, I had already intended to get a second one as it only had one. The ones I got on amazon wouldn't program so I had figured i could use the case to swap the guts but the new fobs cases were not the same size inside and the OEM guts wouldn't fit. I ended up purchasing a new OEM fob from Amazon. Swapping the guts is super easy providing the replacement case isn't cheap junk.
So I think I have a similar issue. Bought my car last July and had three fobs. A number 1 and two number 2 fobs not sure why. The number one key falls out as mentioned. So am I understanding that I can take the case from one of the number 2 fobs and put the number 1 fob electronics in that case and use number 1 again?
