Default rusty rotors after washing

An annoying thing that happens after washing my Z51,C6. Light rust stains appear on the surface area of the rotors. The areas that are swiped by the pads eventually get cleaned but the stains remain on the areas not swiped. It's difficult to find anything to clean it off that won't affect the brakes stopping power in general.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

On both my C6s, I took the rotors off, masked the pad contact areas/faces and used VHT high temp black paint on the hat areas. I don't track my car so they still look great and easy to clean.

Thanks for your response. I was thinking of doing the same with VHT clear. I guess I was looking for an easier way than taking the rotors off, but it does seem to be the best way to go. Thanks again.

They can be painted fine with the rotors on same for calipers. If the rotors are at all worn buying coated/painted ones would work.

Thanks. The new rotors I recently installed were coated. It's just that area not swiped by the pads that shows rust after washing. So I'me going to coat that area also.

Oh, I know exactly the area you are talking about. I am running the J55 rotors I think they are called on the rear of my C5 and that was one of the first things I noticed after installing them. If you paint that area of the rotor it may look a little goofy and it may not hold up very long
at all.

Clean em with acetone then mask em right up to the pad contact area (xacto the arcs) and paint em. Even if you go into the pad area a little bit, first time you hit the brakes, youll be where you want to be.

I have read Hydes serum ruststopper works pretty well but I have never used it personally, it is specifically made for preventing rust when you wash your car.

It works really, really well. Nothing drove me more insane than having a perfectly clean wheel barrel after a wash, get coated in rust dust after the first drive.
