Default Snapped detent bolt

Hi, new to the forum so I may sound like an idiot explaining this but i tried doing the anti venom mod on my c6 ls3 and when i tried to install the detent assembly back, I over torqued the hell out of the bolt and snapped it right off the thread sleeve.

So right now, the sleeve is stuck in the hole and I’ve already tried using a ton of pb blaster to get it out with no luck. I am considering buying an induction heater/ bolt heater to see if that will help but honestly have no clue as to what to do besides taking it to a shop and I’m afraid they’ll have to drop the transmission to get it out. The sleeve is currently sitting about a centimeter out of the hole but won’t budge further than that. Any advice is appreciated.

I am not familiar with the project you are doing, but sometimes you can take a chisel, or a long wide old screwdriver, and hit the side of the sleeve, which will make it out of round. Usually once one side is not round anymore, you can take a vice grip and grab if and wiggle it out.

It’s supposed to be a “mod” for manual c5 and c6’s by adding a washer to the transmission detent ball assembly to make shifting more smooth and not as notchy, but I’ll take your suggestion into consideration and see if I can do it, it’s in a kind of hard to reach area

I don't think heat is going to help. If it won't unscrew, the threads must have been distorted. How hard have you tried unscrewing it? Can you get Channel Locks / Vise Grips / Knipex Cobra on it? It may do more damage to the gearbox case threads on the way out, but everything is a trade-off. They will likely need to be cleaned up with a thread chaser regardless. The challenge will be to minimize the amount of metal debris you get inside the gearbox.

For some reason this is a hit or miss if it helps. It made mine worst, i had to take out the washers and was much better.

I haven’t tried using vise grips on it due to the muffler pipes being in the way, but I do want to give that a try as well. Most I could do without removing the mufflers was using normal pliers but even then there was no budge

I recently installed the mgw short shifter and It kind of takes a little bit more effort to get into first and second than I’d like, although I know the tr6060 is known for that
