Default 2008 key dead

The fob worked yesterday. Today it will not connect to the car after 3 battery changes and trying the glove box slot.
the security alarm does work when I open the door manually. If I disconnect the negative terminal at the battery.
And let the car sit overnight, want the computer reset when I reconnect the battery? Any help is appreciated thank you.
I just bought this car and I’m getting it all cleaned up. It’s has very low mileage for no weight by the way it is an automatic LS three..

Although I feel for your loss of key fob battery, posting in Remembrance, obituaries section may be a bit inappropriate, moving you to C6 Tech for further assistance

Even with a dead FOB battery the car should start when placed in the back up slot...do you hear a click or a series of clicks coming from the RCDLR when the start button is pushed...buy yourself a FOB tester...they are around $30-40 on Amazon...I use Xhorse.

First, the fob must be inserted into the slot keyring out, buttons facing the passenger side. Won’t work in there any other way. And, over and over again, folks keep putting new but dead or crappy batteries into the fob. Get a high quality Energizer lithium ion battery from a store that sells a lot of them, like Walmart.

So true. Just because a battery is "new" doesn't mean it's not junk.
